What’s in a name?
When looking at patterns from more than one manufacturer, you may notice some have more than a subtle difference. Some patterns barely look similar, or maybe completely different.
Although most manufacturers use similar production patterns, some laying patterns are a mixture of several production patterns. A different mix of stone from multiple patterns creates a different laying pattern, or style.
The name used to identify both the production pattern of stone and the laying style is up to the individual company. To confuse matters even more, many homeowners and contractors like to custom mix two or more patterns.
Using only a few stones of a different pattern or color is referred to as accent stones. Mixing multiple patterns throughout often results in a completely different style name.
Why do they do this?
Good question. Some patterns are unique and popular, or are an expression of creativity and should have their own names. It can differentiate a company when they have something special (see our IMPACT™ series). But sometimes it’s a marketing strategy, making it difficult to compare or match patterns between companies.
We not only have the standard patterns, we’ll help you match up a particular style
or color. Just bring in a photo, or better yet, stop in an pick out your own! Don’t
